Men's Neighborhood
Neighborhood was founded by Shinsuke Takizawa in 1994. In the 1980s, Takizawa began to visit Harajuku - an area of Tokyo which would later become a hotbed of streetwear, representing a hub for various Japanese brands, including Hiroshi Fujiwara's GOODENOUGH. During this time Harajuku was undergoing vast cultural experimentation, with Fujiwara a progenitor of the incorporation of western culture into Japanese youth tribes. The cross-pollination of ideas during this era was a backdrop for Takizawa founding Neighborhood. The label draws on elements of American's biker, military and rock & roll subcultures, aligning this aesthetic to typical features of Japanese design, including usage of premium materials and intricate detailing on each garment.
